I sent an email to your address above, and have not had any response
from you. Is this a valid address, as I have suitable comms software for

Your CCS7710 card should be fine, but from the photograph you posted, it
does not look as though the switch block has been set to a suitable baud
rate. With that setting, the card requires an external clock according
to the CCS7710 manual.
For 9600 baud, set switches 1-3 OFF, as they are in the photograph, and
switch 4 ON or down.
I am still not clear which model of the card you have. If you have the
7710A firmware, you have the standard comms card, but if you have less
common 7710D firmware, it may not behave as expected.
