I will agree with Michael J. Mahon in that there wasn't enough
programming information supplied with the IIgs but that was a trend that
started with the Apple //c. There was a lot of programming information
available, you just had to purchase it separately but that does add an
obstacle to someone who just wants to be a casual programmer.
If the Apple IIgs had not been released, I doubt I would be an Apple II
user today with the exception of playing some of my favourite games with
an emulator. Without the IIgs, I would have jumped to the PC world much
sooner than I did. Now, because I still see potential in the direction
the IIgs was taking the Apple II line, I'm trying to get things set up
so I can do more of my daily computing using my IIgs so that I won't
need to deal with Windows as much. I'd be doing more with my IIgs
already but I've just not been financially stable enough to get the
things I want for my system. I'm hoping to start expanding my system
again soon seeing as I'm working full time again for the first time in
almost two and a half years.
