I'm a relative newcomer to the Apple-on-the-Internet world. So SHK,
BXY, and several other encoding methods seem kind of strange to me.
I've ended up (for better or worse) thinking in terms of disk images.
They're convenient aggregations of files, in that respect similar
to .tar files. They're convenient to browse and extract individual
files given tools like CiderPress, AppleCommander, FishWings, etc.
They're convenient to transfer to real hardware to me, because I have
a self-serving affinity to ADT and friends. And I don't see the
benefit of compressing 140k or 800k of information, given the
inconvenience to you in compressing and those on the receiving end to
decompress.

So, if I had my way - everything would be a .DSK or .2MG image. But I
know there are those with much longer Apple histories than mine that
prefer SHK, BXY and friends.
