Ah, not so sad.  It's most likely wired as a standard DTE or DCE.  You
just need to test with a null modem and without, checking standard
baud rates.  Just hope the switch settings you start out with don't
choose 50 baud on the card...  What was I saying about permutations
again?  Seems there are still quite a few.
