I'll openly admit my hearing isn't phenomenal. And you have a good point
about direct drive vs. belt drive. Considering it's a half height drive it
probably would be direct drive. Although they can make a racket too.
Especially 3.5" PC drives.
About those PC drives, don't take track0 motor stopping for granted. A lot
of them don't have it. It's up to the system to stop. My adaptor detects
track0 and stops the head. Keeping its internal track counter where it
should be. Anyway, that's OT.
I know a way I can settle this for sure without dismantling it. Putting my
ear on it during boot should tell me for sure. Not that I'm saying you're
wrong Michael. It's just the drive is unnervingly quiet.
