Once you get in 80-column mode via "PR#n" or ?chr$(4);"PR#n":
Immediate Deferred Result
--------- --------- ------
esc-4 ?chr$(17) 40-column mode (slot n firmware)
esc-8 ?chr$(18) 80-column mode (slot n firmware)
esc-ctl-Q ?chr$(21) 40-column mode (exit firmware)
There's more in the 80-column reference manual, but I don't one online.
