Thanks. Those images look like they are the hard drive (or compatible
storage devices) for which my workmate has the Mac and Apple //c
interface box.

As I suspected, they use the ST506 with an embedded controller, and have
an Apple II interface card, which is likely to be the one buried inside
the box.

They mention a parallel interface, which narrows down the scope of the
problem, and leaves the question of the serial chip's purpose
unanswered. Perhaps that is for a control channel talking to the drive
controller.

The interface is likely to use something proprietary, which probably
means it is useless without the matching drive.

Anything more recent? The box we have was released in 1984, after the
Mac and Apple //c, so somewhere between April and December 1984 seems
most likely.
