I think the no-flippy rule really only applied to the hard sector media of the
day, and early on, everyone was just being overly cautious with the soft sector
media.

And of course, diskette manufacturers didn't want to do anything to dispel that
thinking.

That would explain the occasional note in a publication of the day, but
manufacturers haven't been a factor for over a decade.  The supposed
"problem" now has the status of an urban myth.

We should all do what we can to see that truth trumps myth.
