Interesting view ... so you're saying that the century you're in isn't
that much dependent on which year it is?

It's the 21st century in Europe too -- as in Asia, Africa, Australia and
Antarctica.  The US may be a big and powerful nation, but it's not the
entire world, even of many americans seem to believe so.  Yes, different
parts of the world have different lifestyles, but they're still all in
the 21st century.

To give some different perspectives: if/when the US finally signs the
Kyoto protocol, then it has finally entered the 21st century -- from
this perspective, the US is still in the 20th century, while most of
Europe has entered the 21st century.  The US could also cease using
capital punishment - it's barbarian and remniscient of the middle ages.
No enlightened nation should keep using it - particularly not in the
21st century!


I don't want to start a flame war here - but perhaps we could agree
that despite different lifestyles, we all live in the 21st century?
True, some nations are more backwards than others in some respects,
while on other respects other nations are more backwards than some
nations.  OK?
