Public school teachers have two observations/evaluations a semester. One is
scheduled and the other is not announced. After a provisional period, it is
very hard to do so poorly as to loose your job. Pay is determined by years
served and classes or clock hours of additional training regardless of
evaluations. There is early parole in the form of something called
retire-rehire. A new full time teacher takes home about $400 a week and they
work 10 to 12 hours a day and lots of weekend time.
