In fact you could do what I did and put a ROM 3 into the IIgs case and do the //e mod using the ROM 1 board and give your kids something to play with (if you have kids?) - my daughter loves her IIgs and with it being inside one of the early model //e cases it is almost indestructible (man those original cases are rugged!). I love the early IIe cases. I actually bought one in mint condition to house my IIe->IIgs upgrade. However, the upgrade base pan only works with the later model plastic cases (the ones that yellow). It seems the only way to get a IIgs in the early model IIe case is to mod it yourself. So yours is extra rare!
