I could not have possibly put it any better than that.
To be honest, draconian can be slapped in front of nearly anything here.
Well, that and archaic. But we do our best to work within the guidelines.

It's not the most supported thing here. We have the occasional settop DVD
recorder appear here but they are never great sellers either. Especially
because it's technically illegal to use them.

That's happening a lot more now (so I've heard) with the advent of broadband
that isn't cripplingly expensive. Now it's just a little painful. And
apparently a lot slower than the world standard.
Anyway, to put it all succinctly, Australian television is awful. One of the
reason Aussies have so many hobbies :)
