Re: Can someone fix the wiki entry for 'Joyport'?

Okay ... it turns out that I have found some sources and I am writing
at least a short version of this article myself. I need some help
though on one or two points and I was hoping somebody with a better
memory could inform me of how to characterise things.

It is my understanding that the Sirius Joyport accepted up to 4 Apple
paddles, and up to 2 Atari joysticks. The Apple paddles were of course
analog and the Atari joysticks were digital, which gave them a speed
advantage for games trying to read 4 axes.

According to my understanding of the way the Apple gameport worked,
there is no reason I couldn't have plugged in two APPLE joysticks
(fully analog) into the paddle ports, because as far as the computer
(and the Joyport) were concerned there was no difference between a two-
button analog joystick and two one-button paddles.

Is this essentially correct? Or was it impossible to connect an Apple
joystick? I can find no INcompatibility information, but I can find no
compatibility information either. For example, check out this article
from an Atari magazine circa 1983, in which the Sirius Joyport is
reviewed, along with a whole slew of Apple paddles and Apple
joysticks, and yet curiously, no mention is made in the Sirius review
of what would happen if I plugged one of those joysticks into the
paddle-side of the Joyport.

Can anyone enlighten me on this? It's a rather important distinction
to make, I think.

TIA.
