That switch allows you to reset the machine by
simply pressing RESET alone, or by Control-RESET.
It was added when people were finding that it was
too easy to accidently reset the machine by RESET
alone.


Ah... I see - I was lucky to find a such easy way to rest the
computer. I will leave it it RESET position.

On all later Apple II's, the machine is reset by holding down
Ctrl and pressing Reset, so that is the de facto standard.

As Bill pointed out, it helps avoid accidental resets,
which are generally a disaster.
