By that definition, I'm part of the unwashed masses. Hm, I just quoted
the entire article anyway. :-)

Perhaps it varies between countries - public access to the Internet
didn't really start until around 1990 in New Zealand, which is when I
appeared here. Anyone using Internet prior to that got it through a
university. Bandwidth was extremely expensive in the early days, and I
still have the "trim as much as possible" mentality, though I'm being
less careful these days.
