That works, too, but I usually want to see the assembly a few times, then, when I'm satisfied and I already have a listing, I cut it loose. ;-) When I've edited in a LST OFF, I find that I often forget to comment it out after making a change and wanting to see the output again, so I just use Ctl-D when I get past what I'm interested in.
