I don't mind using ATX supplies. They have the advantage of not needing a
high voltage switch too.

That's very kind of you.
When I was doing pin spacing comparisons looking for a way that I can avoid
mangling the original supply, I checked out the connectors on a gutted ATX
supply. After what you said I took note of the board layout. The high and
low voltage were divided too. Not a perfect line but pretty good. There
were even rectangular holes in the board. The gap was straddled by a couple
of transformers and a small IC.
