But the Apple II bus is not a fully handshaked bus, so setup and hold times are always an issue. The longer the cable, the greater the probability that you will either 1) get a failure that would not occur without the cable, or 2) not get a failure that *would* occur without the cable. Every 7" or so or wire is a nanosecond in this universe, and that's not even considering capacitive loading and reflections. -michael NadaNet networking for Apple II computers!
