As soon as I can do a successful test I'll draw up the schematics on the
computer (I can't scan at the moment, and my hand-drawn ones are very
rough), upload the C source, assembly listing, and hex file, and chuck
everything on my site for everyone to play with.
As people may have guessed, I'm making this for essentially non-profit
reasons. It's as a way of thanking people for all their help in a tangible
way, and keeping me mentally alert as possible in the process while giving
me a means to learn.
As for having some kind of inexpensive mass storage, some of my bedtime
reading happens to be researching how to make block mode drivers for
ProDOS. I can see it being easy enough to interface a Flash ROM using a
method not unlike RedSkullDC's design along with the MicroUSB design.
My idea is to do the following:
* load ProDOS into RAM with the (as yet unmade) USB Mass storage driver
already there using a small fake DiskII boot routine that just loads and
pageflips the ROM.
*Loads a tiny overwritable boot routine into RAM that does the following:
- Does a final slot ROM pageflip setting it up as an identifiable PRODOS
block device
- Jumps to the correct vector to start using ProDOS.
My idea is probably totally wrong, but it's just the beginning of an idea
anyway.
