Re: If the Apple II was continued...
If? the Apple II was continued...
1. Let's get at least 64Gbytes of non-volatile RAM of the type that
plugs into a camera or into a USB port. [we're only at about 4G to 8G
at the moment.]
2. Let's get an extremely low-power consuming 65C864 CPU that is
65C02, 65816, 65C832 compatible. Along the lines of an 64bit ARM
processor. Remember, low low power consumption and small small CPU
footprint. [we're still building CPUs too big, too consuming, but
that's changing very quickly with the proliferation of cel phones, mp3
players, and game consoles]
Make the 64Gbytes or more of RAM easily accessible by the 65C864,
perhaps on the same die/chip. Package the RAM and CPU as a small
keychain that plugs into USB: The USB CPU/RAM keychain. [Birth of the
very small computer. Call it the Apple IIx, call it whatever you
want.]
[okay breathe, this is where massively parallel comes in...]
3. To the USB RAM/CPU keychain, add:
- a single USB port, to plug in a USB keyboard, OR plug in
a USB hub to plug in a USB keyboard, USB joysticks, more USB RAM/CPU
keychains, USB wireless, USB audio/video out/in, USB etc...
