No, not from the command line. However, you can run one GUI App under
GNO, so you could run Merlin 8/16 and have other stuff running in the

(I'm not sure if Marinetti works with GNO though... can someone else

This is definately possible. I'm not sure whether it can be 'secure' or
not though (e.g. uid/pw required) or if the shell prompt is always
available.

I think the lack of response in the GNO newsgroup is probably a good
indication of this.
