Used in A2 to read paddles/joystick BTW. OK, it used external comparator
but the idea was much the same.
As for the subject question, if we are voting here my vote is clearly
A2/A2+.
It was a quantum leap. I don't think there is a need telling this group how
great
it was.
A2e and A2c were logical extensions. Didn't take a genius to come up with
something
similar based on the original A2. In fact 2e was mostly about cutting cost
rather than new
functionality.
And I'm not a great fan of 2GS. It is 2 computers in one. It's nice to have
a faster mostly
compatible A2, but the other side of it - GSOS - IMHO is not very useful.
68000 in a Mac was much better for GUI. And for just about everything else
short of
running old A2 software.
Just my $0.02.
