Didn't know that. I thought the 5.25" drives spin at a different speed?
Or is this of no concern?

Doesn't matter.  DSK2FDI only uses the "other" drive to start a read,
then switches to the 5.25" drive, so relative rotational speed isn't an
issue.

The bigger problem is probably the fact that for almost a decade, many
PC mainboards have supported only one floppy drive at a time, if at all.

I haven't noticed that--if there's a floppy port at all, only a
master/slave cable is needed to access two drives.
