I never had enough room on my desk for two monitors so I always had to 
bounce up and down from one desk to another.  I'm using a Samsung SyncMaster 
940mw with Roger Johnstone's Apple IIgs SCART cable and the split screen 
picture-in-picture mode.  Of course the aspect ratio is way off that way but 
even 80 column text is easily readable. There is a little "ghost effect" 
when pixels change color but with a little playing around with the controls 
you can minimize that.
