Yeah, you're using a *nix based machine, not a windows machine.
/dev/ttyS1 is more likely correct -- but to be quite honest you'll have
to experiment with that a little bit to figure out what the port is,
assuming you can't look up that information in a control panel
somewhere.

And, yes, you are very close.  Once you identify the serial port it
should be able to work properly.
