I could have sworn he was allergic to all things Apple (like Pournelle and Byte in general). Still, it was my favorite part of Byte.

No, Steve had several projects that were developed on the Apple II,
including speech recognition and speech synthesis.

He concentrated more on CP/M-based systems, but the Apple II was
also a prominent player--no doubt because it was both popular and
easy to interface to.
