OS X adds a few extra invisible files to whatever file system it
encounters on mount that keep the window and desktop settings. also,
windoze doesn't 'mount' the drive which is why you can just unplug a
USB flash drive for example, whereas on the mac you have to 'eject' it
first.

not really sure if there's a way to turn the mounting process off. any
UNIX nerds out there know? but that's where you'd have to start before
even trying to look at blocks/sectors on the CF card. you wouldn't want
OS X to write anything extra to the card or it would probably destroy
any A2 partitions.

I'm on a mac also (new intel core 2 duo imac!), and i should receive my
CFFA this week, so i'm also interested if doing CiderPress-style direct
reading/writing to the card from a mac.
