i read that place was notorious for piracy. they allegedly worked under
the premise that all their software were "evaluation copies", even all of
the commercial stuff. you could pay $5 for an "evaluation copy" of summer
games, for example. if you liked it, you were supposed buy the original
at the original high price at your local computer store. however, why
would you do that when you already had the full game with the exception of
the manual? they would buy one copy of each commercial software package
and made thousands of "evaluation copies" until they were pounced on by
the police. they even sent out a disk with their catalog which featured
thousands of titles available. that's a lot of piracy. they were also into
atari 8-bit and commodore 64 stuff as well so that even adds up further.
asimov would probably be the closest archive of that stuff as there is
supposed to be a lot of cracked software there.
