It's certainly very unlikely :-)

Well, yes, that would work too, as would changing the power supply as I
suggested. I guess I was just basing my approach on using what's likely
to be commonly available. I don't think it's outside the realms of
possibility that the RAMWorks card itself has a fault that's placing
either undue load or strange electrical noise on the power supply.
