Firstly, thanks for all your help.

Where do I find X10? I don't find anything higher than X7 on this board.

Without cutting anything, it sorta kinda works: I can switch layouts,
only whenever I switch on the English variant, the video display goes
black. When I switch back and look at the stuff I typed blindly, I can
see that the layouts were indeed switched.
