You'd need a lot of samples to get it sounding authentic, since there's
so many possibilities, but it should be possible to grab the majority
of them just from existing software.
You could use Copy II+ or Locksmith the capture the all important
quarter and half track head movement noises.
Ah, I still remember hearing the strange clattery noises of "Where in
the World is Carmen Sandiego" booting up, and thinking to myself "How
the hell did they do that?" It was the first time I'd encountered a
quarter-tracked disk :-)
