More like WAY ahead of its time.  Tony Diaz implemented a PCMCIA based
flash drive on a Focus Card in the early '90's.  I saw a 5MB "SUNDISK"
version at Kfest one year (Yes before they changed the name to
"SANDISK") and here is a picture of an early version using an EPSON
card:

The Apple II was also one of the first computers to implement a 1.8"
Hard Drive as well.  Alltech sold hundreds of Focus drives with 20MB
verisions of HP's chicklet drive back then.
