unfortunately, the use of '@' in the url causes Google groups to
interpret the url as an email address and it tries to protect the email
address by dropping characters from it. so the url is not completely
visible to me in your post.

additionally, news items are by nature just text. unless the newsreader
that is being used is smart enough to recognise the text as a url and
make it into a url for you, there is nothing to click.

people using google groups as a reader on windows with internet
explorer (such as myself) need to copy and paste the url into their
browser address bar.

I've just found that by replying to your message the quoted text
actually includes the full url, so I've been able to get it and can
confirm that it works.

the url is
ftp:// garberstreet1.2:75f12d 'at' garberstreet 'dot' com
(remove the spaces and convert the two symbols in the obvious places)
