Mike,
I was pretty much joking as there are certainly people here far more
qualified than I at building A2 cards - I mean this was my very first
attempt! And by day I'm a software guy, not a hardware guy.
I know Rubywand (aka Jeff Hurlburt) used to make these as the design is
his own. I would probably need permission from him if I were planning
on selling these things.
However, if no one else wants to build them, and its OK by Rubywand, I
could look into the possibility of producing a very small run of cards.
I would need to figure out quite a bit of stuff before this could
happen though - ie. where to get the PCB manufactured, learning PCB
layout software, etc, etc. Basically it wouldn't happen in the short
term. But if people are interested, I could look into learning these
things.
What would you be prepared to pay for a TDX sound board? This will give
an indication of whether it would even be viable (cost wise) or not. I
mean imagine getting a run of boards manufactured and no one is
prepared to buy them because of the cost.
I believe Bill Garber of Garber Street Enterprizez also expressed
interest in building these. Is that right Bill? If so, he would be far
more qualified than I, as he's done this stuff for a long time. He
would probably also be able to manufacture them cheaper than I could.
I'm also in Australia, so you've got the added cost (and risk) of
shipping to consider.
Maybe we will see a return of these cards if people show enough
interest. If not made by me, then by someone else.
cheers,
