You must have been using MS-DOS or Windows. Those should of course be
slashes, not reverse slashes in your example pathname.
i.e. PREFIX /VOLUMENAME/DIRECTORY
(I know the first thing I always want to do when I use a Windows command
line is type 'ls' for a directory listing)
