Good question. I don't know anyone that went from Apple IIe to IBM to,
finally, Mac..

I'm one - sorta. I switched to PCs back in 87/88 or so, turned it into my career and still use/support them. When I get home though, I generally use a Mac.

I didn't buy a new Mac until 2000. Prior to that, I had sworn I'd never own one. The platform changed for the better, and when OS X came out, I knew Apple finally had gotten it right.

I'm not a Mac zealot per se, XP and 2000 are pretty stable and I use them extensively. When I complain about Microsoft, it's usually Office or Exchange server has me uptight. And, if it weren't for all the malware...

Mac OS X isn't a panacea either. Occasionally, I've had apps die on me but only once have I had an OS X kernal panic, and that was a long time ago. I've also been know to gritch at Apple for some of their interface choices.

In addition to supporting XP and 2K3 servers at my work, I'm also the Unix guy - we have a few older F50 RS/6000 and newer P550 servers running AIX. Don't get me started on Unix...

My primary machine now is a MacBook. With Parallels, it also runs Windows XP, Fedora and Ubuntu - it's easily the best laptop I've ever had and it replaces 3 other machines I used to use frequently.

Also, imho, Macs are some of the best peripherals ever made for the Apple II.
