Re: IIgs RAM Card Identification

Hi Ed,

Really?? That is definately one thing I didn't try. I interpreted the
writing on the front side of the card to mean that it had the same bank
arrangement as the Apple branded card - ie. bank 1 top left going
horizontal for 8 chips, bank two top right 8 horizontal chips, etc..
The reason I thought this is because it has bank 1 written with a line
under it, bank 2 with a line, etc. What makes you think it might be
vertical banks? The traces? I'm a newbie with hardware (I'm a software
engineer) so forgive my ignorance... ;-)

You are very gracious in your offer, but unfortunately I am located in
Australia, so postage costs may be an issue. I have a standard 1Mb
Apple branded card that I have been pulling the DRAM's to test. I need
another 8 chips to get to the full 1Mb (the first 8 chips are soldered
on the Apple card). The card under test actually came with no DRAM's,
so I am only assuming that it uses 256K x 1 chips. I also have another
256K IIgs RAM expansion which isn't working at present, so I might
desolder the chips to make up the 1Mb (hopefully the DRAM's are OK).

I'll have to wait though, because I have just started building a TDX
stereo board for the IIgs and its taking up most of my free time at
present. Yes, a newbie to all this but finding it fun!
