If your drive is an Apple-Brand Disk II:
Disconnect drive. Remove four screws from bottom. Slide cover off the
back end. Locate the write protect switch by sliding in and out a
diskette and noticing where it goes "click". Loosen its screws a bit,
they're reachable from the outside of the assembly once the cover is
off. Test if it stops going "click" by now; if so, you're done.
Reassemble, reconnect (as always, *check* to make sure all pins on the
Controller card are in their proper plug holes, otherwise you'll fry
your drive!!) and off you go. If you want to go back to the original
state, you'll have to experiment a bit, to find at which screw
positions the switch will reliably go "click" but still won't block a
diskette on the way in.
