This particular "stealth GS" mod involved me, a hacksaw, a hammer, a
drill, soldering iron, and a ROM 01 GS motherboard.

Basically I:

1) de-soldered and removed the keyboard plug from my old non-funtional
//e motherboard, soldered it onto my ROM 01 IIgs motherboard
2) hacksawed the back-plate of my //e case to accomodate the IIgs ports
3) drilled holes for the IIgs's composite-out and keyboard plugs
4) drilled holes in the bottom of the //e for motherboard mounting
screws
5) mounted the IIgs into the //e case
6) drilled holes to slightly move the //e powersupply (to accomodate
for the IIgs motherboard which encroaches into the powersupply's space
by about 1 or 2 millimetres)
7) bolted the powersupply into place
8) put it all back together, attached the keyboard and speaker cable
(which I lengthed using the //e's keyboard character-set seletor switch
wire)

and that's all there is to it. "She LIVES!" :-)

If anyone is interested in doing a similar project, let me know because
there were a couple of mistakes that I made along the way which I could
steer you clear of. Of particular note, one of my mounting screws was
shorting out the power supply. Once I removed the offending screw, all
was well.

My daughter now enjoys "Stickybears Talking ABC" (amongst others)

The beauty of this for me is that the //e cases are tough and can take
a good beating (perfect for young kids). I am also using parts that
were previously lying around collecting dust. Also, my ROM03 IIgs
remains out of my daughters hands.... X0
