Create images from the "cracked" image and the good blocks from the original,
then diff the binaries (under Linux, "xxd" the disks and compare them with
"diff"). That'll tell you which blocks were modified by the crackers. If
you get lucky, and there's not a lot of fuzz from saved games or the crack
screen, you'll be able to find the block quickly.
BTW, Andy, can you recommend a good diff program? (Or CiderPress
option... ;-)
I usually just use the Linux "diff" command. Some Windows installations
come with "WinDiff", though I don't know what the current state of that is.
(At one point it came with a "resource pack", or with developer tools, but
I thought it made it into the basic install at some point.)
