Another Super Serial Card Question

I am trying to get my Apple II, ADT, Super Serial Card, and my Windoze
machine running hyperterm to all work together, but as my luck would
have it, I get errors every time I use IN#2 or PR#2 (the SSC is in slot
2).

When I type IN#2 I get messages similar to those that show up in
another thread (called "Super Serial Card Question?"):
C220 - A=A0 X=00 Y=A0 P=B4 S=C9
(Beep Sound)
C214 - A=A0 X=00 Y=00 P=36 S=c3
(Beep Sound)
C21C ...
etc...
and then I end up with the old * prompt.

When I type PR#2 nothing happens, and I get no more prompt, either.
When I type at either end nothing shows up on the Apple.

The baud rates, parity settings, and the like are all set up
consistently, and even after cleaning the SSC's contacts, reseating it,
checking all the cables and the like, these problems still occur.

I am using the original Apple II revision 0 board, with all 64k of RAM,
running DOS 3.3.  The SSC should be able to work with this hardware,
right?

Is there something else I should check, or should I give up on this
card and try to track down another one?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
