I have an abundance of multisync monitors and I have some old monochrome monitor too but a color monitor that can do readable 80col text is unobtainable. So to overcome this I made a CGA adapter for the IIe RGB card since I have a CGA monitor (actually belonging to a 286). Old monitors is a problem here. I would like to get a card that could do colors like NTSC but with a bandwidth capable of 80col on a multisync monitor.I see the SVGA card replace my RGB card as a good solution that will give me the enjoyment of running my Apple IIe many years into the future. (Not VGA because I would like it to use 600 or 768 lines modes if not more and I'd like it to emulate NTSC colors.) (It could go in the aux slot or a normal slot).Yes, I wish that newer video is to be built in motherboard without using aux slot to replace NTSC circuit. I intend to develop equations and reprogram them into GAL chip. GAL chip allows to emulate NTSC pixel into RGB like Apple IIgs. GAL chip is like VGC chip, but I have no idea how to deconstruct equations from VGC chip. I would have to spend more time by guessing until equations become correct to work artifact NTSC color. I can tell when I wish to keep Apple //e and Apple IIgs to exist many years later from now using RGB circuit.
Watever the question is, building a new "Apple II" main board is *not* the answer--unless it is just for your personal amusement. If and when Apple II hardware begins to fail at an accelerated rate, there will be years before most systems are not working, and plenty of time to devise a preservation strategy using the then-current level of technology.
