Well, when I see a computer that is starting to lose all sorts of
hardware, I immediately think "power supply problems."

When a power supply starts to go, it can start sending all sorts of
irregular power down the lines, which can indeed start destroying
different hardware.

With all the cards removed and all the socketed chips re-inserted, then
a non-booting computer (be it Apple II, PC, Mac, whatever) comes down
to:

- bad power supply
- bad motherboard (or bad non-socketed chip)
- bad CPU (or other socketed chip)

If you have spares, replacing every socketed chip with a known-good
chip is not a bad idea, unless the bad power supply will start frying
those known-good chips as they are inserted. Thusly, I would start with
a replacement power supply, then either a known-good motherboard or set
of socketed chips. I realize this basically means a new GS (power
supply + mainboard + case = new computer), but that's what I would do.
