Here's the thing: I buy for the Long Haul. We're talking about DECADES
with regard to the Apple II.

When possible, regarding old hardware, I try to maintain an inventory
of spares, because in 50 years (or whatever) having a spare 3.5" drive
controller for an Apple //e is gonna save my butt, I just know it.

I have just one working Apple //e and IIGS in my office, next to my PCs
and servers and Macs. But I have a spare //e, 5 spare Rom01 GSes, 1
spare Rom3 GS mainboard, and more spare 3.5" drive mechs (HD and DD)
then I care to think about. I even have a spare NoSlotClock.

But I only have one Transwarp //e, one ZipGSX, one SuperDrive
controller, and one UtherNet card. It kills me that they might stop
working over the next 20 years, and I won't have secured inexpesive
spares. ;-)

And besides, if someone here put out a cry for help in securing a
replacement UDC or Laser floppy drive to get their broken system
working again, I'd sell for a reasonable price. We poor Apple II folk
need to stick together...
