I did some quick experimenting with my GS... it looks like the RAM-4-GS
will work with any number of SIMMs installed, but in order for the
memory to be detected properly the slots need to be filled in the order
"4-1-2-3", that is, the top slot is the last to be filled.
For 3MB leave the top slot empty or for 2MB leave the top and bottom
slots empty. I didn't do any real testing on these configurations, just
tried it out and see how much memory was detected. The system booted up
GS/OS each time without any problems.
Installing the RAM in the wrong order (for example a single SIMM in the
first slot) would still allow the system to boot, but the wrong amount
of memory was detected, which would probably be a problem under actual
use.
