Actually, my net wanderings took me (back) to the AppleCrate site a few days ago and I was thinking exactly along the same lines - purely an academic mental exercise though, I have no intention of implementing it.

Actually I was musing about having some ridiculous number of Apples running in parallel doing some massively parallel task like Mandelbrot sets... ;)

Not surprisingly, computing Mandelbrot sets was the first parallel
application I wrote for the 'Crate.

I wasn't going for raw speed, though, just proof of concept, since
the actual computation was in Applesoft.  ;-)
