Try this.

]POKE 103,0 : POKE 104,64
]RUN (Program name here)

You have to load the program after the two pokes.

Nice Try!! Unfortunately, it does not work. I did set $00 on $67 and $40 on $68 using POKE from Applesoft BASIC prompt. Then, I start to type, "10 PRINT "BRYAN" and hit RETURN key. It locked up and garbage characters appears in the screen. I had to do warm reboot.

What you did is not what Mark suggested you do. He used the RUN command, while you started typing in a new program - not the same thing. Does Mark's approach work when you run a BASIC program from disk?
