Totally. However what I am saying is that the short on the Z80 card
worked as a catalyst to the whole thing. Because it was directly after
the little fiasco with it that the supply died.
I know it's neither here nor there, but the local voltage is 240 volts.

I think everybody is in agreement with this. So much good info given by
everyone. The instructions are all really helpful too, especially
because I hate working with mains stuff. I'm usually 12v and below
oriented.
I think a shorted diode is the most likely, but not necessarily it.
All the caps look fine and I can't smell that horribl dead capacitor
smell. But I know that's no gaurantee that they are okay.
Power transistor failure is also likely. They usually seem to work fine
until they explode or turn to ash though.(Don't ask).

Next chance my lovely little daughter gives me, I'll try out everything
suggested here.
Sorry if I haven't replied directly to everyone. Be sure I have read
and digested everything though.

I bid on a mini-ATX PSU on eBay yesterday. By my measurements, I may
just be able to fit it, with a bit of extra space up front for putting
things. If I can't fix my apple PSU and if I win this mini-ATX PSU,
it'll initially just have a simple debounced switch. When I figure out
a better way I might add a soft-off or something.
