Re: When should a power supply be declared Perma-Dead?

I had something like this happen to me years ago, and I finally gave up
on the IIe power supply. Besides that, It was a model that came from
the US and I had to run it through a transformer to get 110V. What I
ended up doing is looking through all my AT power supplies and finding
one whose innards is made up of a board perforated down the middle.
After measuing them, I found out that if I cut them up and used some
thick wires to connect the broken connection, I could fit them nicely
in the original IIe power supply case. I had to transfer the low
voltage wire and the power connector and switch. As an added bonus, I
can now plug it straight into the wall without the transformer.
Henry, would your IIgs power supplies be 110/220 switchable or are they
US standard 110v?
