Re: Portable Apple II Clone Concept

This is a good idea. I've thought of doing something very similar. My
idea was to use an ARM based TS-72xx series single board computer from
technologic systems.

I was talking with Henry and suggested the Apple II Cube. A little 4x4
inch cube "emulated" Apple II. USB keyboard, USB mouse, no fan, no
spinning moving parts. Just a little cube...

The SBC runs linux natively so you'd have a cube based linux terminal
in addition to the Apple II. Its really no different than anyother
computer with an emulator at that point, except my idea was to use some
real apple II hardware for sound, disk emulation, etc.

The same type of SBC might be useful to you also and make the device
attractive for all the linux/bsd nerds out there.

The best part about it is how flexible the platform would be, and not
limited to Apple II computers either.

These SBCs are extremely cheap too. Can't beat $150...come on! There
is enough room in the flash for a VERY nice software library...

I would like to see software emulation of the disk drive seek sounds.
Perfectly, or close to it. And it must make those nice grinding seek
noises on the Apple IIGS 5.25 disk at the worst times in the middle of
night!!! :)
